The National
Weather Service has issued a Flood Warning for the Ohio
River at Louisville. Due to recent heavy rains in the Louisville
area and the Upper Ohio River Valley, the river is rising at a
rate of approximately two feet per day. The river is expected to
crest at or near flood stage (23 feet on the Upper Gauge) on
Sunday evening. The river is currently at 15.2 feet on the Upper
Gauge (2.5 feet higher than normal pool).
MSD has
placed the Buchanon Street Pumping Station in service at 2:30 P.M.
today. The Western Pump Station will go into service at midnight
tonight. The Lower Mill Creek, Upper Mill Creek and Pond Creek
Pumping stations will be placed in service on Friday, March 22, at
noon.
MSD will
also install street closures in the floodwall at 10th and Main
Street and 27th and Northwestern Parkway. These closures will be
installed on Thursday, March 21 and Friday, March 22.
Any
additional actions will be determined based on revised river level
projections.
