FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

April 10, 2003

The Ohio River is rising and is projected to reach 16.4 feet, on Saturday, April 12. This is 4.4 feet above normal pool and seven feet below flood stage. At that elevation, the river will be just over the top of the walkway in Waterfront Park and along the Fourth Street Wharf.

The Buchanan and Fourth Street flood pumping stations will be placed in service on Friday, April 11, per normal operating schedule. There is no need, at this time, to erect any floodwall street closures.

MSD will continue to monitor weather forecasts and river elevations. Additional information will be forthcoming, as conditions change.
