OHIO RIVER SWEEP
SET FOR JUNE 19
The 16th annual Ohio
River Sweep is set for Saturday, June 19, from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00
P.M. More than 15,000 volunteers from Pittsburgh to Cairo,
Illinois will pick up trash and debris along 1,800 miles of
riverbank. Six states and 72 counties are represented. Attached is
a list of the collection sites where MSD and Louisville Metro
coordinators will be available.
Local media support is
vital to the continued success of this community environmental
event. As in past years, our goal is to bring 1,000 local
volunteers to the banks of the Ohio on June 19. Each volunteer
will receive a commemorative T-shirt.
ORSANCO (The Ohio River
Valley Water Sanitation Commission) is the regional coordinator
for the event. The Metropolitan Sewer District is the local
coordinator with assistance from Louisville Metro Government. |
