The Ohio River is projected to reach flood stage at 23 feet, on the Upper Gauge on Friday afternoon. It is projected to crest at 24 feet on Tuesday, January 11.

On the Lower Gauge, the Ohio River is projected to crest on Sunday morning at just under flood stage, which is 55 feet. MSD will erect street closures at Tenth and Main Streets and 27th Street at McAlpine Locks beginning Thursday morning.

Currently, MSD has placed flood pumping stations in service at:

  • Buchanan Street (Butchertown)
  • Fourth Street (Downtown)

Based on projected river elevations, additional flood pumping stations will be brought on-line over the next two days at:

  • Western (West Louisville)
  • Upper Mill Creek (Pleasure Ridge)
  • Lower Mill Creek (Pleasure Ridge)
  • Riverport (Pleasure Ridge)
  • Pond Creek (Valley Station).

With projected river elevations, water will affect traffic along River Road, near Cox Park and the Fourth Street Wharf. Motorists are urged to use alternate routes.
