The Ohio
River is projected to reach flood stage at 23 feet, on the Upper
Gauge on Friday afternoon. It is projected to crest at 24 feet on
Tuesday, January 11.
On the Lower Gauge, the
Ohio River is projected to crest on Sunday morning at just under
flood stage, which is 55 feet. MSD will erect street closures at
Tenth and Main Streets and 27th Street at McAlpine Locks beginning
Thursday morning.
Currently, MSD has
placed flood pumping stations in service at:
- Buchanan Street (Butchertown)
- Fourth Street
(Downtown)
Based on projected
river elevations, additional flood pumping stations will be
brought on-line over the next two days at:
- Western (West
Louisville)
- Upper Mill Creek
(Pleasure Ridge)
- Lower Mill Creek
(Pleasure Ridge)
- Riverport (Pleasure
Ridge)
- Pond Creek (Valley
Station).
With projected river
elevations, water will affect traffic along River Road, near Cox
Park and the Fourth Street Wharf. Motorists are urged to use
alternate routes.
