    MSD’s Kramers Lane North Phase II Project scheduled for tonight at the Southwest Government Center has been cancelled. 

  • December 13, 2000
    MSD’s Glaser Lane Project Meeting scheduled for tonight has been cancelled and rescheduled for Monday, December 18, 7:00 P.M., at the
    Central Government Center located at 7201 Outer Loop. 

  • November 9, 2000
    During the past year, MSD has connected eleven rain gauges to a telemetry system that allows real time rain gauge readings.

  • November 2, 2000
    LOJIC announces its plans to educate students during Geography Awareness Week (Nov. 12–18).

  • October 26, 2000
    In August, MSD began construction of the $64 million Alternative Solids Process (ASP) facility at the Morris Forman Wastewater Treatment Plant. The ASP will replace the existing Zimpro process, which currently contributes to the majority of odors at the Morris Forman plant.

    For the past year, the Louisville/Jefferson County Floodplain Management Plan Advisory Committee (a group of citizens, agency representatives, and emergency officials) have been working to develop a Local Floodplain Management Plan.

    Ohio River Sweep 2000 is scheduled for Saturday, October 7, from 9:00 A.M. until Noon. This year's cleanup was postponed from June 17 due to high water and rain.

    The Louisville and Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) is one of only five Publicly Owned Wastewater Treatment Facilities in the country selected to help reinvent the way that pollution from industrial sources is controlled.

  • July 21, 2000
    A Press Conference will be held on Saturday, 11:00 A.M. at First Congregational Methodist Church, 3810 Garland Avenue, to announce the results of the mediation between Rev. Louis Coleman, representing the Justice Resource Center and MSD. The mediator was retired Judge Benjamin Shobe.

  • July 10, 2000
    On Monday, July 10, the MSD Board voted unanimously to debar Mr. Nathan Koons, an employee of Aqua Pro, Inc. from any employment or contracting activities with the Metropolitan Sewer District.

  • June 12, 2000
    Since Tuesday, June 6, MSD has been working to replace a collapsed section of 24-inch (diameter) brick sewer between York Street and Broadway on Seventh Street. Replacement has progressed from York to Broadway.

  • June 5, 2000
    Ohio River Sweep 2000 is scheduled for Saturday, June 17, from 9:00 A.M. to 2: P.M. Volunteers from Pittsburgh to Cairo, Illinois will collect trash and debris along the banks of the Ohio and its tributaries.

  • May 25, 2000
    Since January 2000, the Reverend Louis Coleman and others representing the Justice Resource Center have been picketing the gate of MSD’s Morris Forman Wastewater Treatment Plant at 4522 Algonquin Parkway. Picketing has been done at random hours and has caused interruptions in the plant’s normal operations.

    Flooding and drainage problems will always be a potential hazard in Louisville and Jefferson County. The Flood of 1997 is a recent reminder of the challenges this community will always face.

  • April 26, 2000
    At approximately 8:00 A.M., this morning (Wednesday, April 26), MSD’s regional wastewater treatment plant in Jeffersontown (10725 Old Taylorsville Road) began receiving an unidentified, white substance through its main sewer intake.

  • April 7, 2000
    The Louisville and Jefferson County Floodplain Management Advisory Committee will meet Monday, April 10, at the MSD Main Office Building, 700 West Liberty Street.

  • March 31, 2000
    MSD recently acquired a piece of property that will serve as its new centralized maintenance facility.

  • February 18, 2000
    At 4:00 P.M., MSD rain gauges around Louisville and Jefferson County are reporting rainfall between 4.5 and 6 inches of rain (since 6:00 P.M. Thursday evening).

  • February 17, 2000
    MSD will begin erecting floodwall street closures at 10th Street (10th and Main Streets) and 27th Street (McAlpine Locks) on Friday morning, February 18, at 9:00 A.M.

  • February 9, 2000
    On Saturday, February 12, the Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers will sponsor the 17th Annual MATHCOUNTS competition.
