• December 3, 2003
  Recognizing that its workforce was becoming increasingly diverse, several years ago the Metropolitan Sewer District began having an employee Diversity Holiday Extravaganza. This year’s event will be held on Friday, December 5th from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at MSD’s Central Maintenance Facility.

  The Beargrass Creek Watershed Clean Sweep is set for Saturday, September 27, from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.

  MSD is please to announce that the Louisville/Jefferson Information Consortium (LOJIC) has been selected to receive the 2003 Exemplary Systems in Government (ESIG) Award from the Urban Regional Information Systems Association (URISA).  
   
• July 11, 2003
  The 2003 River Sweep, scheduled for Saturday, July 12, has been postponed in Louisville again due to high water and swift currents on the Ohio River.

  Project D.R.I. (Drainage Response Initiative) was announced on January 27, 2003 by Mayor Jerry Abramson. It is a $67 million, two-and-half year plan to tackle Louisville's most pressing drainage problems.
   
• June 16, 2003
  The 2003 River Sweep, scheduled for Saturday, June 21, has been postponed due to high water and swift currents on the Ohio River. Recent heavy rains in the Ohio Valley are raising the river level rapidly and would present a safety hazard to volunteers.

  The 15th annual Ohio River Sweep is set for Saturday, June 21, from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.
   
• May 5, 2003
  The Louisville Metro area has received between 1 inch and 3.15 inches of rain since midnight.
   
• April 10, 2003
  The Ohio River is rising and is projected to reach 16.4 feet, on Saturday, April 12. This is 4.4 feet above normal pool and seven feet below flood stage.
   
• March 14, 2003
  On Monday March 10, 2003 the Louisville and Jefferson County Metropolitan Sewer District (MSD) Board awarded a contract to GRW Aerial Surveys, Inc., of Louisville and Lexington, to acquire color aerial photography of Jefferson and Oldham Counties in Kentucky.
