    MSD Executive Director Bud Schardein announced that, with a second round of lay-offs and further cuts to outside consultants made today, the agency has reached mid point in its goal to reduce costs by $10 million.

    The Ohio River is projected to rise to 19.8 feet, on the Upper Gauge on Tuesday afternoon. This is about seven feet above the normal pool level of 12.5 feet.

    The 16th annual Ohio River Sweep is set for Saturday, June 19, from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. More than 15,000 volunteers from Pittsburgh to Cairo, Illinois will pick up trash and debris along 1,800 miles of riverbank.

  • January 6, 2004
    The Ohio River reached flood stage at 23 feet, on the Upper Gauge this morning. It was projected to crest at 24 feet on Wednesday morning. The projection has been adjusted upward to 25.2 feet on Wednesday morning. This is 1.2 feet higher than the previous prediction.
     
  • January 5, 2004
    The Ohio River is rising and is projected to reach a crest of 24 feet on the Upper Gauge, on Wednesday, January 7. This is one foot above flood stage. The river is currently at 20 feet, about 8 feet above normal pool.
