January 25, 2010 Board Meeting Summary

Mr. Schardein gave a brief overview of his visit to Washington D.C. where he accompanied Louisville Metro Mayor Abramson to a conference on consent decrees. Additionally, Mr. Schardein advised of the recent letter sent to about 5,000 new customers, who were determined in an audit, as not currently paying a monthly drainage fee.

Mr. Schardein referenced the Mayor’s Community Conversation meetings on the Calendar of Events.

Mr. Schardein recognized Ibn Green for his outstanding leadership in representing MSD on the Fund for the Arts community initiative.

Mr. Schardein, upon request by Mr. Helton, noted that he received an award on behalf of MSD on Emancipation Day for efforts provided to disadvantaged youth through Project One. Mr. Schardein noted that all credit goes to MSD for giving him the opportunity to reach these children.

Mr. Darst reported Emergency Procurements on 914 E. Broadway, 96” Sewer Repair, 4th Street Sewer Repair 15” Sewer Repair, 4th & Oak 24” Sewer Repair, and Cherokee Parkway (Golf Course) 72” Sewer Repair.
