Industrial Inspections MSDs service area has been divided into 4 areas. One pretreatment inspector is assigned to each area (or "beat"). The primary responsibility of the inspector is to routinely inspect the IU facilities in their "beat" to ensure that the pretreatment systems are properly operated and maintained. In addition, each inspector is assigned one of the regional WWTPs. The inspector also is an available resource to the customers. The inspector reviews and enters the self monitoring data; develops and evaluates loading data; performs slug control inspections, reviews permit applications, develops facility maps using CAD; assists with special projects if associated with the industries or TP; enforces local and Federal regulations; assists legal staff in the enforcement area; identify pollution prevention targets for industry; conducts quarterly meeting with WWTP and operations personnel to review performance; conducts sampling; tracks correspondence and milestones of compliance, etc. in IWIS. The inspectors have received formal training regarding proper pretreatment inspection protocol. |
