Pond Creek Channel Improvement Project

Project Description

 

Project involves excavating material from the banks of the creek and removing it from the floodplain. Stream restoration techniques and native species vegetation will be utilized to restore Pond Creek and its banks. The excavation will serve to create additional flood volume storage during rain events. The project extends from Lambourne Estates upstream to Manslick Road.

 

 

Need

 

The United States Corps of Engineers is performing several projects in the Pond Creek watershed to help reduce the effects of flooding by improving some of the major channels. By creating additional flood volume storage, the negative effects of a flooding event will be reduced.

Final design is currently being completed by USACE.
