Project Description

This project consists of the construction of interceptors in the South Chenoweth Run and Cedar Creek basins. The project involves gravity sewers from the existing MSD Chenoweth Hills Wastewater Treatment Plant to Chenoweth Run and an interceptor along Chenoweth Run north of the Gene Snyder Freeway to a regional pump station located near the Gene Snyder Freeway along Chenoweth Run. A force main will be constructed from the proposed Billtown Road regional pump station to the north side of the Gene Snyder Freeway, to the future Broad Run Road Interceptor.

Need

This project will provide sanitary sewer service to the portions of the Chenoweth Run Basin north of the Floyds Fork Development Review Overlay (DRO). The project will provide sewer service to areas now served by aging septic systems and new developments. Four existing MSD facilities, Lake of the Woods Wastewater Treatment Plant, Chenoweth Run Pump, Chippawa Pump Station and Chenoweth Hills Wastewater Treatment Plant, will be taken out of service, resulting in savings in operation and maintenance costs. Furthermore, this project would improve overall water quality of streams and groundwater in the service area. By eliminating the Chenoweth Run Pump Station, a significant amount of flow will be removed from the Jeffersontown WTP.

Other Information

This project is part of the 2000 Cedar Creek Action Plan Update proposed to improve santiary sewer service in the southeastern part of Jefferson County known as the Cedar Creek Watershed, a 2-square mile area named for the stream that runs through it.
