Project Description

This project includes the construction of a pump station, force main and sanitary sewer interceptors in the Penn Run Basin of the Floyds Fork Watershed. The pump station to be located near Mount Washington Road would pump north to the McNeely Lake Pump Station. The conceptual design of the project includes the construction of approximately 5,000 LF of 12- through 18-inch diameter gravity sewers, 9,100 LF of 14-inch diameter force main and the elimination of MSD's McNeely Lake Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Need

This project provides sanitary sewer service to the portion of the Pennsylvania Run Basin near McNeely Lake. This project will eliminate existing on-site disposal systems in the project area and provide sewer service for new developments. The McNeely Lake Wastewater Treatment Plant will be taken out of service. This will result in savings in operation and maintenance costs. This project is expected to serve 1,646 present residents and a saturation population of 18,156.

Other Information

This project is part of the Floyds Fork Action Plan proposed to improve sanitary sewer service in the eastern part of Jefferson County known as the Floyds Fork Watershed, a 120-square mile area named for the stream that runs through it.
