Project Description

The project includes a study of the adequacy of the station capacity for handling storm flows. Mechanical, structural, electrical and controls improvements to the stormwater pump station to improve reliability fo the station as backup to the final effluent pump station (FEPS). A provision of a backup generator to allow the stations operation during power failure at MFWTP.

Need

Failure of FEPS at MFWTP can cause flooding problems at the plant if the Ohio River levels are high. The stormwater pump station is being evaluated as a backup to FEPS in case of the stations failure.

Other Information

Operation of the stormwater pump station is similar to that of flood pumping stations, rare but potentially critical. Improvements at stormwater pump station are based on meeting this objective.
