Project Description

 

This project provides alternate discharge to Mill Creek to allow continued operation during flood events.

 

 

Need

 

West County Wastewater Treatment Plant (WCWTP) discharges effluent by gravity flow to the Ohio River. Under extreme flood events, the river can back up into the plant preventing normal operation and potentially flooding plant grounds. By discharging to Mill Creek, plant operations can continue and the Mill Creek flood pump stations will pump stormwater and WCWTP effluent to the Ohio River.
